Rey Martinez- Pastor
Pastor Rey Martinez began in the ministry when he entered Bible College in December of 1997. During his time in ministry he has built bus routes, assisted the deacons, held the position of trustee, served as youth pastor for two different churches, served as assistant pastor, and answered God's call to become a missionary to the Native Americans in 2008. He ministered, with his family, on the Rosebud Reservation of South Dakota for nearly ten years. That is one of the most isolated and poorest tribes in the lower 48 states. After serving there, God moved he and his family to the Seminole Reservation in 2022 when he accepted the call to pastor Chickee Baptist Church.
Pastor Rey's Story
I grew up in the area of one of the largest cities in America. My father was from Mexico and sadly developed cirrhosis at the age of 36. He died just after turning 37. I was six years old at the time. My mother took our family to an Independent Baptist Church because folks from that church had come and knocked on our door in the past. While in a service at that church I went forward and made a profession of faith. It was an empty profession and I was still lost. A relatively short time later our family stopped attending that church.
Time went on and as a teenager I got involved with gangs and drugs. Our house was raided by law enforcement twice within one month. Our house was also shot at by rival gang members. My mom moved away when I was seventeen and remarried. I was suddenly forced to enter adulthood rather quickly. All of these things caused me to begin to question my life and choices I'd made. At eighteen years old, I recognized my sinful life and that I had sinned against a Holy God. I repented of my sins in my heart and placed my faith in Christ as my only hope of salvation. At that time, I realized I could not save myself and trusted Christ was enough for me to be saved. I changed. I knew God saved me. I began to read my Bible and attend church. Almost a year later I decided to move away from my neighborhood to another state. I went to live with my mom.
However, a short time later I found myself homeless and living on a friend's couch. It was then that the Pastor of the church I was attending advised me to go to small Baptist Bible college and took me there and dropped me off. Praise the Lord, I began to grow in my walk with the Lord.
I began that first semester driving a church bus. The following year I was given one address with three kids to start a new bus route for the church. By the end of the school year we had the largest bus route in the church with a high day of 143 riders! The next year, I was asked to work as the youth pastor. We started a youth program on Wednesdays. We started in a new area with three young people. In ten weeks our efforts were blessed by God and we were running over 60 kids! It was during this time of service that I met my wife, Nichole. What a blessed time!

Atter a few years we decided to leave bible college and move
back to my home church. During the next six and a half years
I would be used of God to be the bus director, assistant to
the deacons, choir member, Sunday school teacher, youth
pastor, pulpit supply, and anything else the Pastor needed.
In November of 2007 God spoke to me from His Word concerning
surrendering to minister to Native Americans. I surrendered to do the
Lord's will. In 2008, we were accepted as missionaries and began to travel to churches presenting our field and ministering on Indian reservations.
God moved us to the Sioux nation of South Dakota. We spent almost 10 years ministering to the Sicangu Lakota Oyate on the Rosebud Reservation of South central South Dakota. We fell in love with the people. Unfortunately, in 2020, COVID came and effectively shut our ministry down. We sought the Lord as to what to do next. Two and half years later as we were seeking the Lord's guidance, Chickee Baptist Church of the Seminole Tribe of Florida reached out to me through some mutual friends. They asked me to become their Pastor. So on October 19th, 2022 I accepted the call to come and minister to the Hollywood reservation. My family and I moved down to South Florida in November that same year.

Ed Vicenti- Associate Pastor
Bro. Ed Vicenti has been in the ministry for nearly 30 years. He has served as music minister, youth pastor, and associate pastor in New Mexico, California, Wisconsin and now Florida. Bro. Ed has provided song leading and special music at churches all over the country. He attended Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College from 1995 to 1998 studying pastoral theology and youth ministry.
He was saved at the age of 13 in 1988 at Bible Baptist Church of Aztec, New Mexico under the preaching of Pastor Dale Webster. Brother Ed has a servants heart and brings with him a wealth of knowledge to help Chickee Baptist Church in its music ministry as well as youth ministry and wherever there is a need.
Bro. Ed's Story
I am Native American and grew up on the northwest corner of New Mexico. On my dad's side I am Jicarilla Apache and on my mom's side I am Choctaw. I lived on the Jicarilla Apace Reservation in Dulce, New Mexico until I was 9 years old, then my dad got a great job off the 'rez' and we moved to Aztec, New Mexico. At the age of 12 I was invited to Bible Baptist Church and began attending. After hearing the preaching of the Word of God I became convicted of my sinful nature and realized I needed to be saved. I got saved in March of 1988 and baptized shortly thereafter. I stayed in church from then on growing up in the youth group and serving in the church throughout high school.
After graduation, I attended Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College in San Dimas, CA. I had a burden for teenagers that stemmed from losing 8 kids I went to school with from 9th grade to 12th grade almost all from drunk driving accidents. In my heart, I knew someone had to tell these young people God loves them and died for their sins so that they can have eternal life. They needed to know there is a better way to live. So, I studied youth ministry while in Bible College to prepare. In the summer of 1998, my college moved to Oklahoma City, OK. I planned to move as well, but the Lord had me come back to my home church in Aztec and begin to serve there as song leader initially and then as youth pastor as well.
With the burden for young people God moved me to stay at my home church in Aztec and reach the youth of the community. I served as youth pastor from 1999 until 2023. While serving I learned how to run sound and media for services, create and print tracts, bulletins and flyers for church events, along with preaching and teaching both teens and Jr. Church kids. Along the way I also inherited running a summer bible camp which I ran for nearly 20 years, creating the curriculum each summer, bringing in guest preachers and serving as camp activites director. It was a small, low-budget, modest camp but I believe God used it to touch many lives.
I then began to travel around the Four Corners area providing special music, song leading and preaching for area Baptist churches. I enjoyed it very much.
In 2023, God began to move on my heart to move on from youth pastor at my home church to travel to help other small churches who need someone to help in the areas in which I had knowledge. As Paul on his missionary journeys would move to place for "certain days" I would move and live in the area to help a church for as long as the Lord tells me. So, at the beginning of 2024, I moved to California to help Solid Rock Baptist Tabernacle of Bellflower, CA led by my friend, Pastor AJ Harold. I was there for about 8 months. Then God moved me to Wisconsin, to help plant Living Water Baptist Church in Abbotsford, WI led by my friend, Pastor Ja Pritchard. I was there for 13 months. Now, the Lord has me here in south Florida helping Chickee Baptist Church of Hollywood, FL led by my friend, Pastor Rey Martinez. I believe the Lord would have me here for the foreseeable future and I am looking forward to being a help as much as I can.
